North Country Regional Business Plan Competition 2018

North Country Regional Business Plan Competition 2018

[WOMAN]: Today is the North Country
Regional Business Plan Competition. We’re excited to welcome 25 teams from throughout
the North Country. The business plan competition
gives an opportunity for students to practice their pitch in front of real investors for feedback and also a chance to earn seed funding to get their business off the ground. [YOUNG MAN]: The core elements
of any pitch really involve talking about your market, talking about how you’re going to sell what you’re trying to pitch to them and just some other various things about how you’re going to run your company. So the Shipley Center really advises
you through the entire process. [YOUNG MAN]: As far as what I gained from this experience is that just the idea of being able
to solve a problem, you know, just introducing an
idea and being able to structure through it,
go through the process and begin to make it come to life, essentially, and I think that here at this judges competition, it’ll help us see if our business is viable and if our work, you know,
if we’ve been doing our best. [YOUNG WOMAN]: I think it makes me
really glad that I came to Clarkson, just because you wouldn’t get these
opportunities in other places, especially doing a competition like this for real prize money and you have so many people
there to help you, like, for example, Jamie, who’s — he is a super great help and everything and just having that support, and really boosting everything is just … yeah, I would say it really helps. [YOUNG MAN]: I thought I might go work for cyber security somewhere or something like that, but I never thought I’d help create one. Entrepreneurship sounded cool,
but I never thought I’d actually try to do it.
