My Practice Plan: Good Business is Social Responsibility

we’re talking about the sustainability of a practice over decades and what I think is the saddest thing that I see in Functional Medicine is practitioners who have the best intentions, the best training, very good clinical skills but can’t put together a business plan or figure out how to run a business. And so eventually they burn out, or go out of business, or they live in this sort of month-to-month — you know, financial quandary which is stressing them and not going to really help them in terms of how much they can help patients. So I feel like we have like a social responsibility to be profitable. Not greedy, but profitable enough that we can have a long-term sustainable practice that we could run for decades as long as you want to without burning out because of over work or because of being stressed about money all the time.
