HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 All-in-One Printer Review

HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 All-in-One Printer Review

Hi everyone! Thank you for joining me to a new video
by “Original Video Reviews” As you can see we have here quite a big package today The Officejet Pro 8720 by HP As always, we’re going to find out Together What’s inside… And how to use this thing So let’s not waste any time Let me grab the Swiss knife… Here is the Swiss knife… And we’re going to un-package this thing So the unboxing of the 8720
was not too complicated But you should take in account
that it weights about 15 kilos So make sure that you place it on a stable table As for the design of the 8720 Well it’s a typical all-in-one device With the document feeder on the top a legal size flatbed scanner The output bin for the pages that you print a nice touchscreen which doesn’t work Oh excuse me…
It’s still not plugged to the electricity a USB slot Pages tray I can tell you that it looks modern and… Big But I guess that size is a relative issue here You can learn about the potential clients
of the 8720 by its name But if you still didn’t get me
I mean small and medium businesses HP claims that the work capacity of the 8720
is up to 30,000 pages per month But at the same sentence they recommend
not to print more than 2,000 pages Sounds a bit confusing right…!? Let’s talk about the specifications of the 8720 If you want to print in black it can print
up to 24 pages per minute in normal mode And up to 37 pages per minute in draft mode If you choose to add more colors to your life It will print up to 20 pages per minute
in normal mode And up to 37 pages per minute in draft mode If you’re going to use the 8720
as a copy machine The output will be up to 37 pages per minute The 8720 can scan up to 17 pages per minute in black Or up to 8 pages per minute
if the scanning includes more colors The document feeder of the 8720
can hold up to 50 pages The paper tray can contain
up to 250 Pages But there is an option to add a tray extension
that goes beneath the device So it can contain up to 500 pages Of course that the 8720 allows you
to print, scan and copy pages from both sides Since the 8720 is a wireless all-in-one device You should connect it to a Wi-Fi network And then it will work with every device
that is connected to the same Wi-Fi network You can also download an application that
will allow you to print from your mobile device And manage the 8720 As for the specific application to download I saw on the Google Play store
that there are several applications by Hp So the moment I will figure out
which one is relevant I will update this information
in the description to this video One thing that was not supplied
with the 8720 is a USB cable You don’t need a USB cable, unless you have
any plans to connect the 8720 directly to a computer And then you should pay the extra bucks
in order to get one HP offers three years guarantee for this product If you ask me, you can sleep well at night Since until today I had a very good experience
with HP’s customer service Let’s see what else you get when you buy the 8720 In addition to the Officejet Pro 8720,
the Package included the following: (A) power cord A caution note about the ink cartridges A brief user manual An illustrated guide to help you set up the printer A CD with the relevant drivers and software
to install the printer Keep in mind that all the relevant information
on the CD is available online on the HP website A phone cord for the fax machine And four separate ink cartridges We have here the magenta,
let’s call it red in order to simplify things The yellow one Cyan, cyan – let’s call it blue in order to simplify things And the black ink cartridge The specific model of the ink cartridges
used for the HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 is 953 The ink cartridges that you can get for the
OfficeJet Pro 8720 can last between 700-3,000 pages And those specific ink cartridges
supplied with the printer itself This one the black one will last
for 700 pages And each of these three ink cartridges
will last 400 pages Although the prices of ink cartridges
can be very expensive HP claims that the cost per page
using the OfficeJet Pro 8720 Can come up to 50% less compared to
other printers, including laser printers Right now I want to set up the OfficeJet Pro 8720
for the first time – So please join me… First thing we have to do is plug the power cord
to the back of the device Now that it’s ready for use
let’s turn it on for the first time… As you can see the display is a touchscreen,
so you can control it very easily We are going to define the date And the time… When you set up the printer for the first time
you can choose between “Self-manage” Which is a guided setup of the printer
and “IT-managed” I guess this one is more advanced And whoever needs that
will know that he needs that… I guess that the “Pro” in the name “OfficeJet Pro”
means that it’s a proactive printer Because it tells me right now to insert the cartridges
that came with the printer When you install the cartridges you have to
make sure that the color on each cartridge Will fit the colors inside the printer itself Let’s open the paper tray You can see that it’s quite big and you can adjust the size According to the pages or the envelopes
that you’re using with this printer Because I’m going to use now A4 pages I’m setting it up the sides to A4 And then you have to take A4 pages Insert them properly,
make sure that they “sit” properly inside And then you insert this thing back to the printer The printer confirms that the ink cartridges
that I installed are genuine I guess everything I did so far wasn’t enough
because only now it starts to initialize the printer And it’s gonna take the process up to 7 minutes Let’s continue Wireless… You can see that the connection was successful Big “Like” I’m not sure what is the “Web Services Setup” And I guess if someone is interested
in the “Web Services Setup” It doesn’t have much choice
but to accept HP’s terms of use As you can see the OfficeJet Pro 8720
starts to insult me a bit Because it tells me that the setup was unsuccessful I guess the reason for the failure is that
the service is just not available in my area The OfficeJet Pro 8720 asks my permission
to help HP make things better By allowing HP to collect data about me It’s very nice of HP to ask my permission to do that But I assume that if a big company wants to get information about someone they just get it and that’s it Let’s help them… Home… Yes… During the initial setup of the 8720
it printed only one page I really think it’s a great thing because it didn’t
waste too many pages or ink for nothing And it shows that the initial setup of
this 8720 OfficeJet Pro was very efficient The installation of the HP OfficeJet Pro 8720
did take about 10 minutes, which is very nice And now that it’s ready for use
let’s go over the menus This blue light indicator of antenna tells me
that I’m connected to the Wi-Fi Network It means that they can print or scan
documents from every device That is connected to the same network
as the OfficeJet Pro 8720 Whether it’s a tablet, smartphone or laptop And the nice(st) thing about the OfficeJet Pro 8720 Is that it will fit either Windows
or iOS operating systems The display of the OfficeJet Pro 8720 is quite big
And my impression that it’s very friendly to use This is the main screen
or the “Home page” of this device And you can see here several shortcuts I guess these are adjustable, you can choose
which one you want to appear (on) the home page And these are the ones I guess that will be
the most common that you’re going to use the most On the bottom line of the screen
you have here all the options that this device allows You you have the copy menu You can choose between document,
ID card and photo This is the scan menu, you can choose between scanning a file to an email, network folder Computer or to a USB device that will be
connected to the OfficeJet Pro 8720 This USB Socket will allow you to plug
to the OfficeJet Pro 8720 storage devices Such as disk on key or your smartphone This way you will be to print from those devices This is the photo mode which will allow you to display photos on this screen From a USB device connected
to the OfficeJet Pro 8720 And also it will allow you to print directly
from this device The OfficeJet Pro 8720 also offers a fax feature In order to choose the fax menu
you should press this button And then you can go to send now faxes,
send later, reprint faxes And you have the setup mode for the fax machine Now if you want to go backward every time
you go into a specific setup menu You just have to press this button And last but not least, you have the “Apps” mode Which I guess will allow you to download
applications to the OfficeJet Pro 8720 Right now I’m not quite familiar
with the available applications But I will learn about it as time goes by If you want to go back
to the “Homepage” menu You just have to press this button And if you have any questions Or you want to learn more about
how to operate the OfficeJet Pro 8720 You have to press this question mark symbol And then you go to the help mode
which you can see there “How to” videos Control panel tips, working smart tips,
digital office tips, HP environmental tips Product tour, a print demo page,
and printer information As some of you already knows I always urge you to read the user manual So if you really want to learn how to
make the most out of this device This is a great way to do that because
you can see that it’s very informative And done… On the top of the display
you have a scrolling down menu You can see here several more
options and details Such as jobs, schedule jobs if there are any And more information about the printer
and the network that you’re connected to On the top of the display you can see
five different symbols This one will get you to
another setup mode of the printer This one will give you information about
the Wi-Fi network that you’re connected to These two are also related to
the Wi-Fi capabilities of this device And this one will show you updated information
about how much ink is left in each of the cartridges This button will enable the NFC feature NFC is a short for
“Near field Communication” And it means that you can connect between devices that are near the OfficeJet Pro 8720 Such as your smartphone… Well guys and girls Especially the girls… This was my video review about
the HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 If you still have any questions about this device
please comment about this video And I will do my best to give you
an answer about it If this video review was helpful

  1. When it says it can scan to computer, is that wirelessly scanning to a PC?

  2. Great review, thank you. Just a quick question – why not print a document and picture, to show us the print quality? That's the major functionality of the printer, after all? Anyway, thanks again.

  3. 8720 printer 4*6 inch photo paper

  4. Hi!I have an Officejet pro 8500a Plus that has just broken down and I'm looking for a good substitute for it.                                                                                                                Does this printer take like 2-3 minutes to start and cleans the printheads like 10 times a day even if you don't use it much?          It takes about 10-15 seconds to print the first page of the day or if it was in sleep mode?I never had any problems with HP, but with the 8500 I was fed up, instead of the printer working for me it seemed that I was the one working for it; printhead cleanings during document printings, checking processes every now and then…                                                                                                                                                                  I really don't want to buy another printer like that, if they have solved the problems I will go for one of these, if they haven't I will try another brand.Thank you.

  5. Good review! Thanks

  6. Thank You. I appreciate your help on how and where to put envelopes for printing. The HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 does NOT have the 'How To Video' on our company printer so I had to resort to to see if any HELP videos were out there to help since NO "How To" booklets were enclosed in the package box of the printer. Very disappointed on the envelope printing since our old printer allowed you to place the envelope on the additional top tray (it had a separate easy insert top tray that flapped over the paper tray) without having to PULL the tray out completely like this OfcJetPro 8720 printer does. Usually we only have to print (1) envelope at a time for various needs and to have to remove the WHOLE TRAY, Remove the Paper, then place (1) envelope to print an address. It doesn't save any printing steps as stated on the advertisement. >:-/ This is a Medium Size Company Use Printer and it did NOT help our office save steps. Don't recommend for printing 3-5 simple envelopes in a day. However, if it wasn't for YOUR Video, we'd STILL be trying to figure out where & how to do this, so Again, THANK YOU!!

  7. double side printing right?

  8. can you fax wirelessly without a phone line

  9. Hi, quiero saber como pasar de copia oficio a carta sin que la reduzca demasiado…
    Gracias si me puedes colaborar

  10. This was a very excellent review. I feel if I got this printer I wouldn't have to read the set up sheet. Well done. Do you have a review of the 8740 or is it basically the same.

  11. Good review, but I never got to see it actually print anything to see its print speed and DB level.

  12. Where is tray 2?!?!? How do I access it?!?!?

  13. Does it have automatic DUPLEX feeder ?

  14. how do i scan to an email

  15. the firs non-narcissistic man in the review process. Bravo !

  16. So after using this printer for 5 months, what do you think of printer, its ink and have u considered joining hp instant ink?

  17. excellent review i want to know about Phone cord ( bcs no one phone card in box )

  18. does anyone know where to find the pin number for this printer?

  19. Nice review. Just one question: What about scanning a Letter size document?

  20. one of the best reviews ever on youtube. Most reviewers talk like they are desperate to make you buy the stuff so that they get paid. Anyway a couple of things i want clarification on. 1. what is the color print quality on photo paper. 2. Does this print on post card or envelope and how do I set that up? 3. without using a cable can i scan and upload to my android phone? One point you have forgotten to mention is that this sends the printout away from the person unlike other inkjet printers.

  21. so finally got my office jet 8720 yesterday evening. Have used it only for a few B&W prints. So far ok. Space is an issue for the machine and so is the noise it makes. On the other side silent printing decreases the speed of output. But that apart ADF and NFC are great. What i have liked till now is the design of the machine. contemporary yet still commands the look a home office printer should. Two things I got wrong initially were A. The cartridges fit in softly into the slots unlike my other HP printer where it sets in with a snap and the slots don't look pretty tough to handle much force so one should be careful there. B. The main scanner comes with a foam sheet as protection but I didn't know that it has to be removed even when using the ADF. So the first scan was terrible. Then I removed it and peace prevailed. There is protection stand that folds up and down while using the ADF so that if you leave the printer while its doing a job the documents dont fall down on the floor. Small but neat feature. By the way bro the printer here in India came with a USB cable for wired connection. Guess HP thinks India is still not comfortable with wireless printing. To use the mobile printing from android phone or tab you need to download the HP App from playstore. One thing I still haven't found out is how to turn duplex printing on and off in mobile printing. If you have any idea please help.

  22. Excellent review… Very helpful… Thanks..

  23. Great video on how to set up the 8720. My question is: Is there a Photo Tray that comes with the unit that I can't find, or do I have to order another tray? On a typical day, I go back and forth printing 8.5×11 and 4×6 photos. It would be a hassle to change trays. Thank you

  24. It was very good but I want to know how to enlarge a document?

  25. I am trying to print envelopes of all sizes but, the device is not printing it. what am I dng wrong?

  26. how would you compare this to the hp office jet
     pro x476dwMFP?

  27. Can I enlarge things on this system?

  28. Thank-you so much, your video was very helpful!

  29. does HP make a printer of the same series but capable of 13×19? i'm ditching epson because i've gone through a few that end up fatally clogging. i currently use a wf-1100 (best printer in the world btw), but they're very expensive and hard to come by due to their discontinuing a while back.. i need another one, so hoping HP would have been a cheaper alternative. the new epson printers clog because the filter inside the print head is "too fine" and traps pigments which results in a clog you can't flush or dissolve with chemicals.

  30. Amazing review, thank you so much!

  31. I received this 8720 yesterday as a replacement for an 8620.  It sends the printed page out face down.  Is that normal?  I do not like that feature at all.  Is there a way to change that?  Also when it does this to a photo it is smearing the bottom.  Probably due to ink not being all the way dry .  Your video was great but never got to the printing

  32. Hi, Nice Review, Kindly tell me that this hp device can be used for printing professional photos using glassy photo pages or not.

  33. Thank you for this video. Was very helpful ! 🙂

  34. Is posible Scan a 2 sided document using the ADF automatic?

  35. print something..¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  36. Nice Description, really a good job/review. Very useful in deciding to buy.

  37. Very nicely done. I appreciate your details about ink cartridges, also the warning about how much this one weighs. Great use of graphics.

  38. WoW! excellent video! Very informative and exactly what I was looking for. Great job! Love your tone, very articulate and you don't speak too fast. Thanks!

  39. Thank you. Very helpful!

  40. Could you tell me what the app for the printer is ? Thanks

  41. Can you make a video showing how to fax documents?

  42. Hi, Its a copier, scanner, printer and (fax) i was expecting to see at least 2 of those in the video, i have learnt nothing more than i already knew, putting that aside, the video itself was very good.

  43. my printer is only printing in black and white not colour what do i need to do?

  44. Can you explain how to reset the printer please

  45. Does this printer print booklet and if yes how?

  46. Thank you for the review, I just got this printer yesterday and I cannot seem to be able to print my envelopes properley, can you help me with this? I am very farmiliar with HP printers, the only kind I've had the past 10 years but I can't seem to master this one… HELP!

  47. The way he says "the 8720" and how many times he says it got me rolling lol

  48. Please watch these two videos : I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP – PLEASE …

Based on the above videos , am I correct in stating that :

Ink jet now equals laser ?

Please research the HP OfficeJet Pro 8730 / 8740 , and advise as to these models ink cartridges drying up and spray nozzles clogging up ?

Ps : Your accurate reply is necessary for me to make the correct decision between the HP 8730 / 8740 , or HP M477 printer ?
    Thank you .
Please note the HP 8730 / 8740 , has cartridges that yield the same and more than the laser printer , at speeds that equal and surpass the laser printer .

In reality , the only real feasible question is about ink cartridges drying up and spray nozzles clogging up on the 8730 / 8740 ,
But if that does not occur with these models , then it's a no brainer !

  49. Thanks for your review but some questions rising in my mind due to which I can't decide weather to buy it for my business or not. Please help me that i take a smart decision.
    1. Can we use it as an alternative of Photostate Machine?
    2. Is the data cable directly connect with Laptop because if i use USB cable then it speed will decrease.
    3. Do you recommend latest version in which all feature of 8720Hp exists + There is also a feature of Photostate, because i have a small business in which i print documents, photo & use photostate machine for multiple copies.
    Please ans

  50. Hi OVR. Great review! Can the printer be configured to print face up? Does the ink ever smear when it prints face down (especially colored)? Also, how's the ink life from your experience? Thanks!

  51. one question: What about scanning a legal size document?

  52. Very nice. And I especially like the light piano lounge music in the background.

  53. A4 and A3 both print???

  54. Great video.  Does the 8720 come with Readiris OCR software?  And does the ADF can scan 2-sided legal size paper automatically or does only work on letter size?  Thanks again man, love your channel.

  55. Why are you shaking your finger at me the whole time?

  57. When I scan to email it takes the 3 pages and makes 1 pdf file instead of three pages, do you know how to fix this?

  58. Can I use it the old fashioned way without WiFi? Thank you

  59. Is there an option to protect the printer with a password to print? Like for example, to only print b/w and not be printing colors. Thanks

  60. I've just bought this.
    It is extremely good.
One of the best I've bought in a long time.
Joined the instant ink scheme too… Well with the money

  61. HP 953 ink? Everywhere I've seen, it says it takes HP 952. I can't even find HP 953 for sale anywhere. Could it be that the HP 953 are the test/break-in ink cartridges?

  62. Can any of you that purchased this printer provide feedback on quality of print? Review was great but, very little info on quality of printing and i'm coming from Xerox printers and looking for something i can use to print presentation materials ect.

  63. loved the video. Plus what is the intro song you used in this video, i love it and want to know what it is!

  64. Hi I have one more question, is this printer great for printing glossy paper labels?

  65. Hai bro
How to take print out from usb!
    Please clearly tell me !
When I am inject the usb
    There is Print photos and
Scan to the two options only have !

  69. it breaks very quickly.

  70. Hi Dear
    Thanks for your video
Dual scan & Fast scan available?

  71. If one color runs out, does the printer still print? Also, do you just replace that one color cartridge or all of them? Unbelievable how some printers force you to replace all cartridges even if only one is needed. Mindboggling, in fact. Thanks.

  72. Hi. Do u still recommend this printer vs 8740 model

  73. Nice review. For me, enough to understand the critical features. I have only one question. The "doubles-sided impresion" needs an additional device or comes included in the package delivered?. Thks

  82. good printer 8720

  83. Anyone else find this to be a really loud printer?

  84. hi ! Thanks for your video but I recommand to you to hide the serial number. If not, we can, for exemple, we can use your serial number (if we have the same printer, the same PN but without warranty) for exchange it. HP use only the seral number for check if we have the rights but in the reception of the printer at the SAV, they check only the PN (beacause we can assosiate many printers in an only one SN (but they have in reallity different SN). Best regards !
