Find Yourself Through Connection: CIIS’ Bachelor of Arts Completion Program

Find Yourself Through Connection: CIIS’ Bachelor of Arts Completion Program

Um, welcome back
from lunch, everybody. So, whoever has a topic
or a question– a question is a really
good way to start– that you wanna talk
about and facilitate… come up to the board
and write your question down. The Bachelor Completion Degree
is a three-semester program, six weekends
throughout a semester. It’s an opportunity
to get your degree, pursuing a line of inquiry
that’s important to you. So, what matters to you? So maybe how do we
give credit, right? We’re giving credit– Thank you. That thing that we
do in the classroom is a deep caring
for each other to bring out the
potential to actually be an affecter or an agent
of change in the world. This whole talk, she said,
was to find the spark of hope in the past that
gives us hope in the present. I was coming here, I was on
my way here in the morning, and I was thinking,
“I really don’t want to be late
and let my– my fellow classmates down.” I have never had
that thought about a classroom before. I’m finding a structured outlet for that need that I have to feel connection
with people, and to understand myself through understanding
other people now because we’re kind of
indebted to one another. -Yeah, we are.
-We’ve spent this amount of time trying
to build relationships, trying to understand
each other, getting pissed off,
and having to, like, oh, sit with it
and then come back. We have difficult
conversations. I noticed every time
that I generalize, I get into this tricky
kind of like thing of like, “I didn’t
mean it like that.” Like, “You know what I meant.” We value very different
kinds of intelligences. Well, what is that
that I can learn about myself
from the other? That is the conversation
that will probably be the most transformative. Through going to CIIS,
I think I have a better conceptualization
of how to situate myself in complex environments. We naturally
build on each other. I came here because
I wanna be a therapist. What I didn’t expect
was how life changing it was going to be. These things are interwoven… like, inextricably.
