>>Narrator:
– Here’s another Thrive tip from Kaiser Permanente and FOX 12.>>Stephanie Kralevich, FOX 12:
– Did you know normally humans blink their eyes about fifteen times a minute. Studies show we blink
half to a third that often while using computers and
other digital devices.>>Kyle A. Schwalbe, OD, Optometry
Specialist, Kaiser Permanente:
– The digital consumption
of technology is much more common today than even it
was five or 10 years ago. People’s blink rate tends to
decrease to about half of what it normally is when they’re
focused on up-close work. Also, we recommend the 20-20-20 Rule and that is every 20 minutes
take a 20 second break and look at something 20 feet away and that will help your eyes relax. If your eyes feel dry keep good, high quality artificial tears. But also, give your eyes a
rest every once in a while. And make sure that your contact lens and glasses prescriptions are up to date.>>Stephanie Kralevich, FOX 12:
– If you experience symptoms like eye pain or new vision changes, he says to see your eye care professional right
away and take good care of your eyes with a routine
exam every one to two years.>>Narrator:
