Business & Basic Etiquette : Business Etiquette for Offering Business Cards

My name is Gabriela Garzon and I work with
G.G. Image & Etiquette Consulting in Miami, Florida. In this clip we’re going to talk
about business card protocol. The first thing that we have to remember is that the business
card is part of our package, just like appearance, actions and words. Business card is part of
that package. When somebody approaches you and requests a business card, or you just
provided someone with a business card, you have to go ahead and give the business card
with the letters facing them, so it is easy for them to read it. So as soon as you give
it to them, you hold the card this way and you just go ahead and give it to them. They’re
supposed to get the card; if somebody’s giving me the card, I just go ahead and take it like
this, with both hands, showing interest on you, I read it and I put it way on safe place.
You don’t throw it in your purse, you just go ahead and respect it. Another thing that
we have to remember is that you don’t write on a card, especially if the person who gave
you the card is still in front of you, because it’s just disrespectful. Remember, do not
give worn out cards, soiled, or just really, cards that are in really bad shape. Remember
to use a business card case, that way they will keep fresh and clean when you provide
them. And, of course, have your card case very close to you so it is easy for you to
just go ahead and take it out and provide someone with a business card. Again, this
is Gabriela Garzon at G.G. Image & Etiquette Consulting.
