One way to serve, is to ensure access to affordable quality health care and preventive services. Today, millions of uninsured people in our own communities can find coverage and take steps toward health and wholeness. You can play an important role in helping them by learning about the Health Insurance Marketplace and HealthCare.gov If you don’t have health insurance, or if someone you know doesn’t have coverage now is the time to enroll. Open enrollment in the Health Insurance Marketplace starts on November first and coverage can start as early as January first. You can apply for coverage and enroll online at HealthCare.gov. You can also apply and enroll over the phone by calling the Marketplace Call Center at 1-800-318-2596. Representatives are available to help twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Help is also available from people in your community who are trained to assist you with applications and enrollment. Visit LocalHelp.HealthCare.gov to find assisters in your area. During the last open enrollment period eight out of ten people qualified for premium tax credits that they used to lower their premium costs. In fact, most people qualify for financial help to make coverage more affordable and can find plans for seventy-five dollars or less per month. Don’t delay. Most people are required by law to have health insurance or they must pay a fee with their tax return and that fee goes up every year. To learn more, visit HealthCare.gov today.
